What You Know About Stuffing Your Face With Dumplings?
For all of those who watched Joey Chestnut eat 66 Nathan's weenies last week and thought, “Shit, that ain't no thing but a chicken wing on a string,” here’s your chance: the Dumpling Eating Contest is accepting registrants until the end of the month. Dumplings used in the competition are of the chicken and vegetable variety; according to the contest’s poster, current records are “Man- 49 pcs., Woman- 33 pcs.”

What You Know About LiveEarth?
LiveEarth is a series of megaconcerts which will take place tomorrow, 7/7/07, all over the world - USA, Europe, Japan, Australia, China - and feature some of the biggest music stars like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West, Beastie Boys, The Police, Dave Matthews Band, Roger Waters and many others. The concerts have been designed to raise awareness about global warming and climate change, and it might even affect climate itself with all that gas-guzzling air-polluting cars gathering at the actual shows. As far as live coverage goes, MSN has exclusive rights in 24 countries and they will be available live on LiveEarth website, and up to eight shows will be broadcasted simultaneously. That’s right, kiddies, you’ll be able to hear Enrique Iglesias and 7 other artists wailing about the state of global climate at the same time!

Or you could enjoy the wonderful weekend by drinking beer and bbq'ing all day...your choice.

What You Know About Cereal Straws?
Oh those wacky folks in the R&D (research & development) department at Kelloggs have finally reached a new low. Allow me to introduce you to the most gluttonous, cavity inducing product of the year...The Fruit Loop Cereal Straw.Yup, you guessed it...these are literally straws lined with sugary fruit loops with a sugary powdered milk interior for kids to enjoy while drinking a tall glass of cow-juice.
Personally, the tag line on the box kinda frightens me: "Fruity, crunchy tubes for milk-sippin' fun!"
Come on....seriously!
COME ON!!!
You get it, right?
How 'bout now?
Here is a first-hand account of someone's experience with this brilliant new product launch:
"They are lined in the middle with that sickly sweet powdered milk that seems to be popping up in granola and cereal bars everywhere. Someone needs to tell these guys that it does NOT replace milk and that we can all tell it's just sweetened coffee creamer. Fortunately, the flavor of that is masked by the Froot Loop shell.
The straws themselves are rather sturdy and hold up well to milk. They last a long time without getting soggy and do actually work as straws. They basically taste like Froot Loops, which is all you could realistically hope for.
Once you take a single bite of the cereal straw, it becomes too short for drinking and the fun immediately dissipates. If you just sit there and drink the milk, you'll just be wasting the straw as it imparts no flavor and is generally useless. Once you get to the bottom, you realize you have a half-soggy cereal straw with no milk to wash it down with."

What You Know About Sushi Seki Vs. Sushi of Gari?
SUSHI OF GARI VS SUSHI SEKI
Which sushi spot will reign supreme?
Whose tuna toro will be crowned king?
Will Seki's spicy scallop hand roll deilver up to expectations?
Will I declare bankruptsy after receiving the bill?
All these questions and more will be answered after this weekend's virginal trip to Sushi Seki. As a die-hard Gari fan, I have been hard pressed to believe that Gari's apprentice chef, Seki, could reach the masterful approach to omakase (chef's choice) that Mr. G has perfected over the years.
Alas, by next week I will happily answer the question once and for all: Gari or Seki!!!!!
Here is a solid sushi blog to all of the NYC hot spots, local favs, over-hyped, etc....

What You Know About Jamba Coupons?
What You Know About Top Chef?
As you are bound to find out, I love the show Top Chef on Bravo. The chefs selected to compete are real deal and they create some incredibly novel and imaginative dishes on a very regular basis.
My very preliminary pick for this season's winner is Brooklyn's own, Lia. As a sous chef at Jean Georges, she should definitely have the skills to go all the way.
I just caught an episode last night where the challenge was "gourmet BBQ." Even though Tre's Peach Salmon BBQ was panned by the judges, I think I'm gonna try out this recipe and taste for myself. Here is the recipe if you're interested to check it out:

What You Know About Wogie's?
According to New York's self-proclaimed #1 Cheesesteak taster, Marco, Wogie's dominates with it's great taste, excellent service, and laid-back atmosphere - all for a very very low cost. The menu and history of the place can be found by clicking on the link below.

Unfortunately for Marco, I found this righteous opposition on chowhound:
"Wogie's is a nasty hole full of loud cheeseballs gurgling on their phlegm-inducing cheese steaks and laying waste to substandard beer. If you can get past the putrid patrons and the boorish management, you still have to stomach the nasty knucklehead food. A real diarrhea- hut."
This guy does have a point...we are a bunch of cheeseballs with a love for stomach curdling "knucklehead food."
